Ms Coyne and Ms Brennan had a very interesting visit to a prospective partner school in Iceland last month. Click here to see photos. The school is in the second largest town in Iceland, situated in the north of the island, called Akureyri. A preparatory meeting was held there to plan another Comenius project. The partner schools for the next project will be the Polish school and the German school we have already, together with three new schools which are in Akureyri in Iceland, Pieksamaki in Finland and Ig in Slovenia. We look forward to another interesting project commencing in the autumn term if our application to Leargas is successful.

On Thursday 3rd of February, our sixth class went on a trip to the Ulster American folk park.

We are working hard to conserve water at Holy Family NS. We want to get another Green Flag! Ms Gordon and her Green Flag pupil committee have been teaching us all about water conservation. We are regularly checking how many units of water we are using and we have been trying to cut down our use of water to save the environment. We are going to harvest rainwater which will be used in our tanks for flushing toilets. We have had push-taps fitted so that we will reduce the water we use when washing our hands - and in case we forget to turn off the taps! We are proud of earning two flags already and looking forward to earning our third one!
